Q. WHAT DOES A RECORDING STUDIO ENGINEER DO?

A. The engineers job is to run all technical aspects of the recording session. Setup of microphones, recording equipment, headphone system. The engineer also operates the recording software and keeps track of takes and session files.

Q. WHAT DOES A PRODUCER DO IN A RECORDING STUDIO?

A. The music producer is essentially in charge of the entire studio process. They write, organize and/or make the music into a song; they decide what songs are recorded, how it’s sounds, what instruments are being used, who’s playing and if additional takes are needed (outside of requests by the engineer). This can be your bandleader (if they feel confident in this role), or someone else. If you don’t have a dedicated producer, we can help you. Just ask.

A. We encourage clients to bring an external hard drive (usb 3.0) so we can back up the files when the session is completed. We do not store long-term.

Q. HOW CAN I BE BETTER PREPARED FOR MY SESSION?

THE ENGINEERS

Q. WHO ARE SOME OF YOUR INFLUENCES?

JOSH: I love the sound of projects engineered by Andy Wallace. Some of my favorite artists and albums are: Rage Against the Machine (self-titled), and Audioslave (self-titled), among many others.

Q. WHY USE A PROFESSIONAL RECORDING STUDIO?

A. Anyone can get their hands on recording equipment and call themselves a studio. In Nashville, some of those people are really talented and excellent at what they do but unless you’re familiar with the engineers and the process, you’re taking a risk - financially and creatively.

Q. WHAT RECORDING STUDIO SOFTWARE IS BEST?

A. Whatever recording software gets the job done. We use Protools HDX.

Q. ARE WE ABLE TO HIRE THE ENGINEER FOR PROJECTS OUTSIDE THE STUDIO?

A. We love to work.
