FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

  • HOW DO I BOOK STUDIO TIME?

You can book time here or by calling us at (615) 543-6499.

  • WHAT ARE YOUR RATES?

Depends on the project. We start with a day rate that covers studio rental and an engineer. Call us to talk about your project specifics and we can give you a more accurate picture.

  • CAN YOU MIX MY PROJECT OR ADD OVERDUBS IF I BRING YOU THE FILES?

    Absolutely.
If you’ve got stems or a session you’re happy with, we can pick up where you left off—whether that’s mixing, adding overdubs, or both. Just send us the files and we’ll take it from there.

  • CAN WE EDIT AND MIX ON THE SAME DAY AS RECORDING?

Yes—depending on the scope of the project, we can often start editing and mixing the same day. We’ll map out a plan during booking to make sure we leave time for everything.

  • HOW DOES PAYMENT WORK AND WHAT ARE MY OPTIONS?

To book your session, a 50% non-refundable deposit is required up front. The remaining balance is due at the end of the session. We accept cash, check, credit card (with a 3.5% fee), and PayPal. If something comes up, we’re always happy to work with you to reschedule.

  • WHAT'S THE SHORTEST SESSION I CAN BOOK?

We offer hourly rates with a two-hour minimum—just enough time to get into a groove.

  • DO YOU ALLOW FOR SET-UP TIME?

Yes—setup is part of every session, and the hourly rate begins when your booked time starts. We’ll make sure the transition from setup to tracking is smooth and efficient.

  • WHAT DOES THE RECORDING ENGINEER DO?

The engineer handles the technical side of your session—setting up microphones, managing the headphone mix, running the recording software, and keeping track of takes and files. Their job is to make sure everything runs smoothly so you can focus on the music.

  • WHAT DOES THE PRODUCER DO?

The producer oversees the creative direction of the session. They help shape the sound, choose the songs, guide performances, and make decisions about arrangements, instruments, and whether more takes are needed. Sometimes that’s the bandleader—other times, it’s someone you bring in. If you don’t have a dedicated producer, we’re happy to help. Just ask.

  • WILL YOU KEEP AND STORE MY SESSION DATA OR TAPES?

We recommend bringing an external hard drive (USB 3.0 or faster) so we can back up your session at the end. While we keep files short-term, we don’t offer long-term storage—so it’s best to take your files with you.

  • HOW CAN I BE BETTER PREPARED FOR MY SESSION?

Come in knowing what you want to get done—whether that’s a full song, vocal takes, or overdubs. Bring lyrics or charts, make sure your instruments are in good shape, and send any reference tracks in advance. The more ready you are, the smoother (and more productive) the session will be.

  • CAN YOU HELP ME FIND MUSICIANS TO RECORD MY TRACK?

Absolutely. Whether you need one killer part or a full band, we know the people who can show up, lock in, and make it sound right.

  • CAN YOU OFFER RECS FOR PLACES TO EAT/STAY?

We’ve got all the recs. Whether you need a place to crash or the best tacos between takes—we’ll point you in the right direction. We don’t book anything ourselves, but we’re always happy to help you plan.

  • ARE GUESTS, PHOTOGRAPHERS, OR VIDEOGRAPHERS ALLOWED IN THE SESSION?

You're welcome to bring friends or media folks to the session. Just keep in mind that the more focused the room, the smoother the session tends to go—especially when it comes to staying on schedule. We recommend limiting it to essential crew and creatives whenever possible.

  • CAN I TOUR THE STUDIO & LISTEN TO SAMPLES?

Absolutely. We’re happy to give you a walkthrough and share some recent work so you can get a feel for the space and the sound. Just reach out to set up a time.

  • IS THE STUDIO AVAILABLE TO RENT FOR NON-RECORDING PURPOSES?

Possibly! We’ve opened the space for things like photo shoots, video content, and small events. Just tell us what you have in mind and we’ll see if it’s a good fit.

  • CAN I BRING MY OWN ENGINEER AND/OR PRODUCER?

Yes. We’re happy to collaborate with your engineer or producer—just let us know in advance so we can make sure everything runs smoothly.

  • CAN I BRING MY OWN GEAR AND/OR INSTRUMENTS?

Yes. Most clients bring their own gear but if you’re looking for something specific, give us a heads-up so we can plan accordingly and make sure we’ve got everything you need to plug in and get rolling.

  • CAN I RECORD LIVE WITH THE FULL BAND?

Yes—our space is well-suited for live tracking with full bands. We’ll walk you through the best setup to make it sound great.

  • DO YOU OFFER MASTERING SERVICES?

Yes—mastering is available through Nashville Mastering, operated by Prime’s co-owner Josh Keith. If you're looking to finalize your project with someone who knows the room and understands your sound, it's a great option. Let us know if you'd like to include mastering in your project, and we’ll help get it scheduled.

  • WHAT IS YOUR CANCELLATION POLICY?

If you need to cancel or reschedule, we’ll do our best to accommodate you. The deposit is non-refundable, but we’re happy to work with you to find a new date.

  • CAN I FILM OR LIVESTREAM MY SESSION?

We’re open to filming or livestreaming, as long as it doesn’t interfere with the session. Just let us know ahead of time so we can plan for camera placement and gear.
